When moving files Between computers, or just putting away files for later use (e.g. backups), the intermediate medium used might not be able to deal with the whole files directly, such as floppies, email, SuperDisks, CD, DVD or tapes. The aim with this program is to split these big files into manageable sizes (that is, into several smaller files that can be handled individually), which later on may be used to restore the original files.
The interface is designed to make it easy to do simple splitting and restoring, but the program has also many special features that allow the user to affect the splitting/restoring. A self uniting file may be created for the restoring, making the program superfluous for this step, although it is more powerful to use the program than to use the self uniting file.
